Formerly Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd, Panasonic was founded in Japan in 1918 and went on to become Japan's largest electronics producer. In 1961 Panasonic produced it first television and entered the flat panel market in 1999. Panasonic offers an excellent variety of LCD products. Their flat panel models are between 14-32" and rear projection televisions range from 43" to 60". Most of their LCDs are HDTV ready and can attach to any home electronics device including a PC. While their flat panels include a pedestal stand, their rear projection models don't come with a stand but will require a stand of some sort because they're similar in shape to a tube television - only lighter and narrower.

2008/2009 Panasonic LCD Models

Panasonic LX85 Series

Panasonic showed us their LX85 series LCDs at CEDIA this year. The TC-26LX85 and TC-32LX85 are 720p panels with a 10000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. We impressed by the extremely wide view angle of these LCDs. The normal contrast lost at wider angles we see on LCDs was not present on these.

Panasonic TC-37LZ800

Panasonic's top of the line 1080p LCD for 2008/2009 is the TC-37LZ800. With 3 HDMI inputs (1 of them side mounted) and a PC input this TV can be used as an excellent small room TV or a very high end computer monitor.

Panasonic Viera G1 Series

Panasonic's top-of-the-line LCD is the VIERA G1 series featuring the 1080p TC-L37G1, 37-inch class (37" measured diagonally) TV and the 720p TC-L32G1, 32-inch class (31.5" measured diagonally) model. Both TVs offer 120Hz Motion Picture Pro3 technology that ensures crisp, focused images for sports, dramatic action, and all other fast-moving scenes.

Panasonic Viera X1 Series

Panasonic's 720p VIERA X1 LCD series introduces both an iPod entertainment Kit and the new 19-inch class (19" measured diagonally) screen size to the LCD family. There are three more screen sizes in this line - 26-inch class (26" measured diagonally), 32-inch class (31.5" measured diagonally) and 37-inch class (37" measured diagonally).

Panasonic Viera LX14 Series

The VIERA LX14 line are two budget priced, 720p LCDs from Panasonic. At 26 and 32 inches 1080p wouldn't provide much of a benefit anyway. The two LCDs feature VIERA Link and VIERA Image Viewer techonolgy which can be used with compatible cameras camcorders. The stated contrast ratio is 10,000:1.
